Is this cmd will list all the patches.....
and secondly
If i have installed (Oracle 9.2.0.4.0) can I apply patchset (9.2.0.Cool directly and my database will be updated till that release.
Or I have to apply evey patche released by date.

In other words can a patchset 9.2.0.8 includes all the patches in relese 2.

Hi,

'Critical patch update (CPU) patches are cumulative, which means fixes from previous Oracle security alerts and critical patch updates are included. It is not required to have previous security patches applied before applying the CPUOct2007 patches. However, you must be on the stated patch set level for a given product home before applying the CPUOct2007 patches for that release.'

This was taken from the ReadMe file of the latest (october) patchset.
Can someone explain to me please what does statement beginning with However mean, ie:
However, you must be on the stated patch set level for a given product home before applying the CPUOct2007 patches for that release.

I have to install Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 on a new server and I thought it should be enough to apply the latest patch set but the 'however' part confuses me..
Can someone help out?

thanks

If you are in 9.2.0.1 you CAN'T apply the CPU, this is the "however" part.
You can apply CPU only if you are in the correct patchset for the CPU that is 9.2.0.8 for 9.2.

Eh, i thought it won't be that easy..
Can you please guide me through this: how do I upgrade from 9.2.0.1 to 9.2.0.8 ?
Do i apply 9.2.0.8 patch set or i need to apply another, intermediate patches or patch sets ?

I tried looking at MetaLink but can't get this info out of there..

thank you
Sonja

The info is in the readme file of the patchset and in the general doc on patchset in Metalink.
It is even in this site as the question was asked many times.
